The Second Life Grid is the platform and technology behind the 3D online virtual world Second Life, the world is divided into 256x256 m areas of land, called Regions. Each Region is simulated by a single named server instance, and is given a unique name and content rating, ( PG, Mature or Adult ) each server controls its
own Region.

Second Life is for people aged 18 and over, while Teen Second Life is for people aged 13 to 17.

Once an account is created you become a Resident. Residents can engage in many activities, just as people do in real life, they can explore, meet other residents,
socialize, they can create and trade virtual property, or they can travel throughout the world, all this is referred to as “the grid”.

Residents of Second Life are represented as an Avatar which is a computer user’s representation of himself/ herself, they can be whatever they want to be.

Avatar is an Indian term of the Indian Hindu belief concept of re-incarnation, an Avatar is a spirit returns to earth to help mankind.
